About the Webinar

ACEM, in conjunction with Griffith University and Swinburne University of Technology, is proud to present the final of three webinars focused on Leadership within our Emergency Departments.

Leading Up – Becoming a Trusted Advisor

Relationships and building trust are at the heart of effective healthcare delivery and health systems leadership. Yet, building these high trust relationships is not easy. Emergency Medicine is a high stakes, high pressure environment with many relational and structural challenges that can make trust building between clinicians and hospital executive and heads of departments difficult (Rixon et al 2020). This interactive panel webinar will:

  • Explore insights from two highly experienced emergency physicians on developing trust within such high-pressure and high-stakes environments.
  • Unpack insights from hospital executives about strategies for nurturing impactful relationships and advising up (and down) the hierarchy.
  • Share new research and theory pertaining to leading up, with practical take-aways for emergency physicians seeking to become trusted advisors within health system hierarchies.
